This thesis work details the design, fabrication, and testing of components essential to an 8051-compliant asynchronous microcontroller intended for extreme environments. The components are designed using a delay-insensitive logic called NULL Convention Logic (NCL), in order to allow for reliable circuit operation over a wide temperature range and to enable supply voltage scaling for low power consumption. The designs are run through a design flow that automatically generates fabrication-ready layouts. The layouts are fabricated at MOSIS using the IBM SiGe5AM 0.5 mum process, and the resulting chip is tested at room and cryogenic temperatures.... inc, dec, inc DPTR, mul, div, and DA.
