The purpose of the study was to explore the relationship between student performance on the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) and the third grade reading Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The study addressed the problem of whether or not there is a relationship between performance on each of the nineteen (19) sections of the TPRI which is used in Texas to assess primary age children and TAKS reading performance in grade three. Third grade students in the Temple ISD comprised the sample for the study.
