The purpose of this study was to explore the Biblical parable of qThe Prodigal Sonq using Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre with students enrolled in a drama class at a southwestern United States Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) academy, a secondary education institute for grades 9-12. Based on the assumption that parables are concepts presented through the use of metaphoric storytelling, it was asserted that Forum Theatre, a form of Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) that invites audience members to participate in the dramatic action through character replacements and discussion, may be an effective way to explore the concepts and metaphors in Biblical parables.General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
