This study investigates the influence of principal leadership through an institutional lens and examines the effects on the school through the framework of professional learning communities. In order to understand the complex and combined influence of leadership and organizational supports on a teachers' sense of efficacy, multiple research methods were employed. The first quantitative phase involved a survey administered to teachers at more than 20 schools in two California school districts that measured levels of teachers' efficacy beliefs as well as their perceptions of leadership within the school organization.
