The goal of this first edition was to create a reader in which the selections appealed to students for their currency and accessibility. The readings chosen are accessible to first-year students with the introductions and pedagogy written in a very student-friendly manner.The budget focused on more police officers, security officials, immigration officials , and border guards. Much less money was devoted to responses that might prevent or respond to nuclear and biological terrorism or deliberate or ... The 2001 security budget made it seem as though terrorism was the only threat to the security of Canadians. ... Such a mobilization at the American border would have inconvenienced the people who make a total of almost 200 million crossings every year.
