This book provides a biographical account of James Starkey's life (1879-1958) and critically evaluates his literary works, written under the pseudonym Seumas O'Sullivan. This study is set in the contest of Anglo-Irish thought and modern Irish literature.3 After his session of browsing he would repair to the Palace bar in Fleet Street or in earlier years to the Old Bodega in Dame Street. Here he met his literary friends and they ensconced themselves in a corner, impervious to interruption.
