The Symposium sought to cover a number of methods used to achieve low cost automation in industry today. The first half of the volume deals with the techniques developed to provide a low cost alternative; these include computer-aided design, electrical devices, P I D controllers, modelling, petri nets and systems. A further section covers components and instruments which affect such things as reliability aspects and new instrumentation.
