The Pacific Tsunami Warning System, commonly referred to as the PTWS, has come far in the last five decades since its formation in 1965. This book describes significant tsunami events, presents the history of the PTWS design and implementation and its milestones. It also reviews main scientific and technological aspects of tsunami detection and warning, and discuses its managerial, educational, and societal dimensions. A brief introduction is given to each of the key partners in the PTWS that together make the whole system work.
