In this study, novice programmers at the undergraduate and high school levels completed a modified version of the paper-based assessment instrument designed by U.K. researchers. Students also were asked to complete web-based tasks based on MasterMindRTM and Sudoku.... and to load the first program, usually an operating system such as Windows, DOS, OS X, or any of hundreds of others. The operating system then takes control of the system and determines which programs to execute, how to load them into the computera#39;s working memory, ... For example, simple mechanical switches being set to on and oppositions might be considered a very low level of programming.
