During the fall of 1972, the Honda Motor Company of Japan announced publicly the development of an engine featuring Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion ... Three four-cylinder 119 CID 65 hp cars were tested by EPA, and the results are shown in Table 15 (Austin, 1972. ) ... a very rich mixture (A/F alt;13/1 ) to the prechamber where the conventional spark plug is located. After ignition, the rich mixture expands into the main chamber and serves as a torch to ignite the lean mixture.
