This instrumental multiple case study will investigate a deeper understanding of how women in leadership positions, specifically with a majority of male subordinates describe their leadership experience and their leadership strengths and weaknesses. Gender roles have been studied, but this study will investigate into specifics of women who lead men. The intended professional audiences are those interested in leadership topics, military, and gender issues. This dissertation will contribute to the development of theory and the line of research on gender roles in leadership.
